Emerging manager marketing survey
Emerging Manager Monthly surveyed Emerging Managers across the country between November and December 2011 to learn more about their marketing strategies for this year. The insights gleaned from their responses could help you decide the best use of your marketing budget, and help grow your business.
Here are some key findings:
1. Optimism reigns: Most firms expect significant growth of assets under management (AUM) in 2012. A majority anticipate growth of 25% or more. These expectations contrast sharply with 2011 when many firms saw little or negative growth.
2. Budgets growing: Marketing budgets will increase by an average of 20% in 2012. Nearly half of all firms will spend $50,000 or more, while a fifth will spend less than $10,000. Only about 10% of firms will cut their budgets.
3. Spending steady: The top three marketing expenditures in 2011 were travel, conferences and consultant marketing. This trend will continue into 2012. The priority given to spending on web site development and branding was expected to remain steady or decline in 2011, even though these items were identified as leading sources of long-term business growth.
