Cash or credit?
Squareup.com is making it easier than ever for virtually any merchant in America to take payment by credit card — from swap meets to street-level guerilla marketers. The company offers a free, compact credit card reader that can be plugged into just about any smartphone with the Apple iOS or Google Android platform. Squareup.com allows merchants to swipe Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards at a cost of 2.75% per swipe.

Funny words
An e-mail has been making the rounds claiming to present the winning entries from a Mensa Invitational wordplay challenge. Apparently, no such event exists, but the made-up words and definitions are so funny that it hardly matters. Here are five of our favorites:
Cashtration:
The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time.
Intaxication:
Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.
Karmageddon:
It’s like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it’s like, a serious bummer.
Glibido:
All talk and no action.
Dopeler Effect:
The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.
